CHENNAI
: The seventh edition of the Madras Management Association's (MMA) Women Managers' Convention gets under way here on March 24 on the theme `Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges'.
The one-day event seeks to provide a platform for career women to reflect on manyissues and the leadership challenges, MMA representatives S. Gopal and Major S. Lakshmanan told presspersons on Tuesday.
Among the speakers are Indira Bhargava, chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Sunita Kohli, architect, Chandra Iyengar, Health Secretary, Maharashtra, Geeta Chandran, dancer-choreographer and Chennai Commissioner of Police Letika Saran.
The theme was chosen for its high relevance now as the women manager has to surmount several barriers to move up the corporate ranks, said Kavitha Chitturi, chairman, Women Managers' Forum. An `Outstanding Woman Manager of the Year' award, based on written and oral presentations made by participants, is another feature. The convention will begin at 9.30 a.m. at Hotel Taj Coromandel.
