Youth held, caller ID instruments recovered

CHENNAI : The Railway police arrested a youth on charges of robbery and recovered five new caller ID (identity) instruments among other valuables from his possession here on Tuesday.

The police said they detained A Maran (22) of Tirumangalam on suspicion while conducting checks in Periamet police station limits.

Under questioning, he is reported to have confessed stealing five caller identification instruments from Ripon Buildings on February 21. The police recovered the stolen properties valued at Rs 10,000.

Police claimed that Maran used to steal from railway passengers.

Further investigation is on, the police added.
