HYDERABAD: `Lady don' Farah Khan on Tuesday refuted allegations that Ali Bhai, alleged mastermind behind kidnaps for ransom who was arrested by city police on Monday, approached her for settlements of land disputes. Following arrest of Ali Bhai, city police said they were investigating into reports that he approached Ms. Farah for settlement of land disputes to earn money. After meeting the Commissioner's Task Force officials on Tuesday, Ms. Farah, who was accused of involvement in several criminal cases, told reporters that she had quit the path of crime long ago.
`No cases pending'
She said she was acquitted of almost all criminal cases and no fresh cases were registered against her in past three years.
The `lady don' said she was into social service by associating with a voluntary organisation called Deccan Women's Welfare Association. However, she conceded that she helped a woman advocate Vasanthi and her daughter Soni, who were charged with aiding and abetting Ali Bhai in kidnapping a boy from Langer Houz, secure bail. "I met them in jail. Out of sympathy, I arranged an advocate to secure bail for them but I am not connected to Ali Bhai in anyway," she said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) Kamalasan Reddy said her claims were being verified.
