Four arrested, valuables recovered

BANGALORE: The Commercial Street Police have arrested four persons, including a hotel manager and a Hindi film artiste, who had allegedly made away with gold jewellery and electronic goods valued at lakhs of rupees after diverting the attention of salespersons at 16 shops in the city.

The police have recovered from them gold ornaments, silver articles, electronic goods and clothes, in all valued at Rs. 10 lakh, and Rs. 2.95 lakh in cash.

The arrested, all relatives, were identified as Kamalesh (28), his wife Priyanka (24), and Suraj (34), residents of Ejipura, and Kavitha (40) of 8th Block, Koramangala. While Suraj was a hotel manager, Kavitha had acted in several Hindi films, the police said.

Posing themselves as customers, the accused frequented jewellery shops and malls in the city. After diverting the attention of the salespersons they made away with the jewellery.

With their arrest, 16 such cases reported from Commercial Street, Koramangala, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, High Grounds, Ulsoor Gate, Jeevan Bima Nagar and Chickpet police station limits have been solved, the police said. The police have also seized a car from the arrested.

Recovered

The Hanumanthanagar police have arrested three youths on the charge of theft and recovered from them nine mobile phones, in all valued at Rs. 50,000.

The police gave their names as Siddesh (19) and Siddaraju (20), both residents of Kalappa Block in Srinagar, and Nandish (19) of Muneshwara Block.
