Lorry owners to resume campaign

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: To curb overloading of lorries, the Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners' Association will soon start an "anti-overloading" campaign on Hosur Road and Tumkur Road.

The campaign, which had been taken up by the federation in the past, had been discontinued for the last one month following protests against the verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal. This had resulted in 50 trucks carrying the load that could be accommodated in 100 trucks, federation president B. Channa Reddy said here on Tuesday.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr Channa Reddy said overloading had caused problems for lorry owners, whose vehicles were idling without any loads. "The federation will now resume its campaign, which would help all truck owners in getting loads regularly," he added.
