Minister launches online process; log onto www.ceep2007.com

  • Hall tickets can be obtained at designated helpline centres, Rajiv internet kiosks
  • Students can also choose the exam centre of their convenience

HYDERABAD: The process of filing of applications for the Common Entrance Examination for Admission into Polytechnics (CEEP-2007) has gone online.

Higher Education Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, who launched the online system at Government Polytechnic, Masab Tank, here on Wednesday, said it would bring hall tickets to the doorstep of students, particularly those from rural areas, as they would be generated online.

Last year, 78,000 applications were received and the number was likely to touch one lakh this year for about 21,000 polytechnic seats. The percentage of admissions increased from 70 per cent to 97 per cent last year reflecting the growing demand for polytechnic courses, he said.

The online system introduced by the State Board for Technical Education and Training (SBTET) and hosted by NIC would make the application process simple, said Principal Secretary, Education, Ashutosh Mishra.

    Applying process

SBTET Director Rajendra Narendra Nimje said the system would reach students through 1,200 AP online and Rajiv Internet kiosks and 33 helpline centres of polytechnics (www.ceep2007.com) . The online applying process would encourage more students from rural areas thanks to its outreach.

Giving details, he said students could walk in with a photo, parent/guardian to any of the nearby centres, fill in details, render required signatures and pay Rs.270 for online application.

After scanning the photograph and signatures, the hall ticket will be generated on the spot. Students can also choose the examination centre of their convenience, he added.

Alternatively, a student can apply online either from home or internet café at www.ceep2007.com, take a printout, fill the details with photograph and signatures and submit it at any helpline or AP online centre and get the hall ticket straightaway. The printout with photo and signatures can also be posted to Secretary, SBTET where the application will be scanned and hall ticket generated.

A printout can be taken from any centre free of cost. The last date for submitting online applications is April 13 and the CEEP will be held on April 22.

The results will be out in May first week and counselling will be from May last week.
