TIRUMALA: `Ugadi'- the Telugu New Year's day will be observed at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara on March 20. The annual `Ugadi asthanam' will be observed inside the hill temple on the same day. In connection with the festival special rituals like - the auspicious `panchanga sravanam' and `asthanam' shall be conducted at the `Bangaru vakili' inside the sanctum sanctorum between 7.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m.
Seating of deities
Earlier the processional deities of Lord Malayappaswamy along with his two divine consorts seated atop the golden `Sarva Bhoopala vahanam' will be made to sit at the Bangaru Vakili along with the commander-in-chief of Lord's domain - Lord Viswaksena on the opposite side. After the conclusion of the customary presentation of new pair of silk vastrams, prasada nivedana to the deities and `akshatarohanam' the auspicious `panchanga sravanam' shall be rendered heralding the new year. As part of the Telugu new year arrangements, the TTD management has dispensed with all types of the `arjitha sevas' usually performed inside the hill temple daily including the pre-dawn ritual. The S.D seva in the evening will however, remain.
