NEW DELHI: Tata Teleservices on Thursday entered into an open distribution partnership with the global handset manufacturer, Motorola, to offer its customers low cost CDMA mobile handsets. Motorola's Motofone F3C, Radiomoto W210 and W170 would be available through the Tata Indicom distribution network of more than 60,000 retailers countrywide, Malcolm Dawe, Vice-President and General Manager, Motorola India Mobile Devices, said.
Benefits to customers
The handsets have been priced in the range of Rs. 1,699 to Rs. 2,849 and will come with the benefits of the GO XTRA PACK, which will enable customers to avail themselves of double talk time for the first six months with bonus talk time valid for one year from the date of activation. The scheme offers free incoming calls for the first six months without recharge. Meanwhile, Tata Teleservices CEO Darryl Green said the company had verified 99 per cent of its mobile customers and was well on course to meet the deadline of March 31 for subscriber verification set by the Department of Telecom. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has set March 31 as the deadline and thereafter it may impose a penalty of Rs. 1,000 per unverified user and it has stated that it would not extend the deadline.
