Tirumala temple to be closed for eclipse

TIRUMALA: The Hill temple of Lord Venkateswara will be closed from 9 p.m. on Sunday in connection with the solar eclipse. It will be reopened at 8.10 a.m. on Monday after the conclusion of the eclipse. The temple will be thrown open for public at 11 a.m. after conducting special rituals like Suddhi and punyavachanam. The TTD management has dispensed all the predawn rituals on Monday morning including the weekly Vishesha puja and the sevas shall be performed in `ekantham'. - Staff Reporter

Former naxal held on rape charge

KARIMNAGAR: The Sircilla police on Wednesday arrested Yadagiri alias Chanti alias Rangaiah, a former Manair dalam commander of the Janashakthi naxalite group and one of the accused in the rape of a housewife and assault on villagers in Ankusapur village of the mandal on Monday night. However, the villagers caught hold of Yaseen and handed him over to the police on Tuesday. The police also recovered a dummy pistol, a hand grenade, some rounds of .45 from their possession. - Staff Reporter

Jurists' conference on March 24, 25

HYDERABAD: A two-day National Jurists Conference on `Empowerment of Judiciary through values in social, cultural and Human Rights' will be organised by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris here on March 24 and 25. At a press conference here on Thursday, Rajyogini B.K. Santosh, Zone Incharge said 2,000 delegates from across the country and abroad are expected to attend. - Special Correspondent Reporter Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, G.S. NCCL bags

Rs. 348-cr. projects

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited (NCCL) has recently secured orders to implement projects costing Rs. 348 crores. A company press release said orders were received for a Rs. 86-crore irrigation project in Kurnool and construction of a cricket stadium at Mohali in Chandigarh for Rs. 74 crores. - Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: MediosOne, one of the operating units of Ybrant Technologies and Internet advertising network provider, on Thursday announced strategic partnership with Integrid Media, the Mumbai-based integrated media solutions provider. At a press conference, Brad Cohen, CEO of MediosOne, said that his company was excited to enter into partnership with Integrid. Anil Mishra, Founder and CEO Integrid Media, said Internet was growing by 50 per cent each year and would be the medium of the future. - Special Correspondent

Suicide bid by family from State

Thiruvananthapuram: A 45-year-old man, who is suspected to have consumed poison along with his wife and two children at a private lodge in the city, died at the Medical College Hospital here on Thursday evening. The police identified the deceased as Yedu Kondalu, a native of Andhra Pradesh. His wife, Mani, 30, and children - Yashwanth, 10, and Jayanth 6, were admitted to the Medical College Hospital in a serious condition. The police said the family arrived here by train and checked into the lodge on Wednesday- Staff Reporter
