BANGALORE: A delegation of farmers from 15 villages affected by various development projects around the international airport at Devanahalli met Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday to seek a better compensation package for land losers. The Raitha Horata Samiti members, led by its convener D.S. Gowda, told the Chief Minister that farmers should be considered as shareholders in the development process by being offered at least 50 per cent of the developed land. Their compensation package was meagre as farmers were unable to buy land elsewhere with it. Later, speaking to presspersons, the Chief Minister said that he would protect the interests of farmers in any acquisition process and that the Government would come out with a suitable package for farmers.
