BERHAMPUR : The branch of Central Bank at Pittala village under Patapur police station in Ganjam district was burgled on Wednesday night. According to bank manager Mahesh Prasad Patnaik, the burglars escaped with cash of more than Rs. 8 lakhs. The burglars drilled a hole to get into the strong room. They broke open the iron chest and took away the cash. On receiving information, inspector in-charge of Patapur police station K.C. Mund and officer in-charge of Hinjli police station Tarini Charan Patro rushed to the spot along with a team. A forensic team and sniffer dog squad also reached the spot. Search operations were on. All exit routes were under close watch to track down the miscreants.
