Emergency landing at Delhi airport

NEW DELHI: An Indore-bound Air Sahara flight made an emergency landing at Delhi airport soon after take-off on Thursday. All the passengers on board are safe.

According to airport sources, the flight for Indore took off at 6-10 p.m. but returned to make an emergency landing at 6-30 p.m. after reporting a hydraulic system failure.

IGNOU Convocation tomorrow

NEW DELHI: The 18th Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University will be held this Saturday. Supreme Court Chief Justice K. G. Balakrishnan will deliver the Convocation Address. Eminent agricultural scientist M. S. Swaminathan will be conferred the Degree of D.Sc. (Honoris Causa).

The convocation will be held simultaneously at 28 regional centres of the University. The countrywide telecast of the programme will also be available through "Gyan Darshan", the educational TV channel of the country.

New IGNOU courses

to be online

NEW DELHI: All new courses that Indira Gandhi National Open University will launch from this July will be made online, announced IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai here on Thursday.

"The move is to use technology in teaching-learning, skill up-gradation and capacity building in a systematic way. IGNOU is starting the online facility in order to harness new information and communication technologies to help the University attain its goals," said Prof. Pillai in a statement.

Now e-mail power theft report

NEW DELHI: Power distribution company BSES has announced two exclusive e-mail addresses for customers to report electricity theft.

A BSES official said consumers can report theft on theft.bypl@bsesdelhi.com (for BYPL customers) and theft.brpl@bsesdelhi.com (for BRPL customers).

"These are in addition to the two dedicated and exclusive numbers -- 39999888 (BYPL) and 39999777 (BRPL) -- for reporting power theft. As always, identity of customers will be kept confidential," said the official.

He pointed out that even after a record reduction by discoms, the aggregate technical and commercial losses in the city remain at 35 per cent, one of the highest in the country.
