Withdrawal of censure motion demanded

Special Correspondent

PATNA: The Opposition boycotted the proceedings in the Bihar Assembly for the third successive day on Thursday, not relenting in its demand that the State Government withdraw the censure motion adopted against it on Monday for any purposeful dialogue to restore normality.

Meeting

The Opposition leaders held a meeting, chaired by Leader of the Opposition Rabri Devi, resolving to keep away from the House till they were welcomed with due honour and dignity.Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he had made an appeal to the Opposition to return to the House.

On the other hand, Speaker Udai Narain Chaudhary held talks with the Opposition leaders but did not divulge the details.

He was hopeful that normality would be restored soon in the House.

The impasse followed a demand by Rashtriya Janata Dal member Kunti Devi for arresting those named in the first information report filed by her in connection with the attack on her house about two months ago.
