Bangalore: Juvenile Justice Boards will be established in all districts of the State to help children in conflict with the law to get speedy justice, Minister for Women and Child Development H.K. Kumaraswamy said here on Friday. "There are eight such boards in the State and we plan to extend them to all districts by April next year," he said. The boards had been formed under the Juvenile Justice Act under whose purview cases involving children in conflict with the law were heard. Mr. Kumaraswamy was launching the "wRITE for Child Protection (wFCP)" project, a joint initiative by the Child Rights Trust, Department of Posts - Karnataka Circle, Karnataka State Council for Child Welfare, Bangalore Urban District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the State Women and Child Development Department. The Minister said child rights issues, health, education and trafficking of children had to be discussed and analysed. The State would shortly set up a Children's Commission under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, he said. His department would write to the Centre seeking help so that letters sent under the project could be subsidised. At the moment, for every letter sent, the postal department got Rs. 3.50 and the expenses were borne by non-governmental organisations and through donations.
