ANANTAPUR: The State Election Commission (SEC) has served notices on 691 candidates who had contested the ZPTC and MPTC elections in the district last year for their failure to furnish details of election expenditure so far. They include 13 elected ZPTC members and 142 elected MPTC members. The elected members are facing cancellation of their membership if they would fail to furnish by March 25 details of election expenditure along with the reasons for the delay. The candidates who had lost the elections would be barred from contesting any elections for the next three years for failure to furnish the election expenditure details by the due date. The SEC had sent notices to the district Collector to be served on the candidates concerned by the Mandal Parishad Development Officers. In all, 91 candidates who had contested ZPTC elections and 600 for the MPTC elections would be served with the SEC notices.
