`Muthamizh Peraringnar' title conferred

MADURAI: The title, `Muthamizh Peraringnar,' was conferred on the former Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court, P.R. Gokulakrishnan, at the 32nd Tamil Music Festival, organised by Tamil Isai Sangam here on Wednesday.

Addressing the concluding session, Mr. Gokulakrishnan recalled the services rendered by Sir Annamalai Chettiar for the growth of Tamil language and music.

Ponnambala Desigar of Kundrakudi Mutt conferred the title, which carried a citation and Rs. 25,000, on Mr. Gokulakrishnan.

M. A. M. Ramasamy, Pro-Chancellor, Annamalai University, presided. The Collector, S. S. Jawahar, released the souvenir. R. Chekkappa Chettiar, executive trustee, welcomed the gathering.
