MYSORE: Students and teachers of the Viveka Tribal Centre for Learning, the tribal residential school run by the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) in remote Hosahalli in Heggadadevanakote taluk, got an opportunity to interact with Lokayukta N. Santosh Hedge and Upalokayukta Patri Basavanagouda on Friday.
Praise
Mr. Hegde and Mr. Basavanagouda praised the experiential and joyful teaching methodology adopted by the school and the efforts being put in by the teaching staff. They had a quality time of interaction with the tribal students of the high school as well as of the D.Ed. College for children of tribal families of the region. The Lokayukta and Upalokayukta then visited the Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hospital in Kenchanahalli village. They also had an open discussion with members of the Social Audit Committee, whose aim is to take up the construction of a good road from Bidarahalli to N. Begur, and comprises representatives from villages, engineers, contractors and SVYM members. Mr. Hegde appreciated the efforts of the SVYM and others to prevent against corruption in the construction process and make it transparent. He promised to extend his full support to the construction work. He also promised that instances of mismanagement would not go unpunished.
Model
He said that with the cooperation of the people, the Social Audit Committee could serve as a "role model" for the prevention of corruption. The Lokayukta and Upalokayukta also visited the Vivekananda Memorial Hospital at Saragur and interacted with doctors and other staff.
