Special Correspondent
Belgaum: Members of the Kannada Rakshana Vedike staged a demonstration at Rani Chennamma Circle here on Saturday opposing the Government's move to bifurcate the district. Leading the members, president of the vedike's district unit Rajvee Topannavar described the move as "ill-conceived". It would only help the pro-Maharashtra forces that were demanding the transfer of Belgaum and other border areas of the State to Maharashtra. He said that the State Government should drop the move immediately and the decision of splitting the district should not be taken until the Mahajan Commission report was implemented.
