Deposition of Bhawna postponed

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Bhawna, daughter of former Member of Parliament D.P. Yadav, did not depose before a local court in the Nitish Katara murder case on Saturday as she was reportedly indisposed.

The matter now has been posted for March 28.

Counsel for Bhawna submitted before Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur that she was suffering from fever.

The Judge posted the matter for March 28. Bhawna had deposed before the court on March 9. However, the deposition had remained incomplete.

In her deposition, Bhawna had told the court that her mobile phone was not in her possession on the evening of February 16, 2002, when Nitish went missing from outside a wedding venue in Ghaziabad.

Bhawna and her elder sister Bharti had also attended the wedding.

Video footage of the wedding was also shown in the court in which Bhawna and Bharti were seen holding mobile phones at two places. Bhawna had, however, told the court that the phone belonged to her friend.

She had also told the court that she had called up Nitish's mother Neelam Katara on her mobile phone on February 17 evening as Ms. Katara's number had appeared as missed call on her phone.

Earlier, Bhawna's deposition in the case had been getting postponed due to one reason or the other since January.
