Konathala flays Chandrababu Naidu

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna has faulted TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for levelling charges of "corrupting" the poll process against the Congress.

Launching a trenchant attack on Mr. Naidu for criticising the Congress, Mr. Ramakrishna wanted to know as to why the TDP had fielded its fifth candidate from the MLAs quota despite being aware of the fact that it would not win the seat. "Is it not an indication of Mr. Naidu's efforts to indulge in horse-trading," he asked.

Pointing out that the Congress had neither fielded nor supported any candidates from Graduates' and Teachers' constituencies, he criticised the TDP president for "polluting" the election of these non-political categories by announcing the party's support to some candidates. Mr. Naidu had also created unnecessary competition in the Local Authorities Constituencies in some districts.
