MANGALORE: The State Government has recognised the efforts of private managements of Kannada-medium schools in promoting the cause of education by bringing them under the ambit of grant in-aid scheme, Ganesh Karnik, MLC, has said. All such schools set up on or before July 1,1992 and which hitherto were not receiving aid would henceforth be eligible to receive Government aid, he told The Hindu on the sidelines of a function here on Saturday. Mr. Karnik said that the Government had stopped providing grant in-aid to managements of such private schools in 1987. Now the Government recognised the contribution of such institutes and the Deputy Chief Minister made an announcement to this effect in the budget on Friday, he said.
