KOCHI: The 18th regional convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held here on Saturday. As many as 490 candidates received degrees in various academic streams offered by the university. Cochin University Vice-Chancellor P. K. Abdul Azis was the chief guest at the regional convocation.

In his address, Dr. Azis said a broad range of learning opportunities should be provided to the students to maintain a sustainable open learning platform in the country.

V. Vasudevan, regional director, IGNOU, said the regional centre had launched several programmes to address emerging challenges in open distance learning.

Two students of the Kochi regional centre won top honours in the all-India level examination. They were N. Parameswaran (MBA banking and finance) and Binu B. Nair (B.Ed.).
