BANGALORE: A two-year-old girl was among the three people who were killed in separate road accidents in the city since Friday evening. The police said the toddler, Yellamma, the daughter of a labourer, died on the spot when a goods vehicle ran over her while she was playing on 19th Main, Byatarayanapura, around 4.15 p.m. Friday. The Byatarayanapura police have registered a case. Venkatesh (24) of Parappana Agrahara was killed in a hit-and-run case in the early hours of Saturday. The police said that around 5.30 a.m. a vehicle knocked him down while he was walking near Singasandra on Hosur Road. An unidentified pedestrian was killed after a goods vehicle hit him on Hosur Road around 7.30 p.m. on Friday. The Madivala traffic police have registered separate cases.
Pirated books seized
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff on Friday seized pirated books worth Rs. 20 lakh after arresting a man who was allegedly printing and selling them in violation of the Copyright Act. He was identified as Narasaraju (46) of 4th N Block, Rajajinagar. Narasaraju and his two accomplices, Shashi of Chamarajpet and Santosh of Cottonpet, were printing the books at a press at Chinnappa Industrial Area in Kamakshipalya. The police, who have seized printing machinery and material, are on the lookout for Shashi and Santosh.
Fake notes seized
The Indiranagar police have arrested two persons from Tamil Nadu on charges of printing and circulating fake currency notes. The police have seized from them fake notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 100 denominations, a computer and a printer. The arrested are Suresh (18) and Manikantan (25), both from Salem.
Jewellery recovered
The Upparpet police arrested Narasimha Reddy (40) of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh and recovered from him gold ornaments worth Rs. 4.5 lakh. The police said Reddy had had stolen the jewellery from the bags of passengers at the crowded KSRTC and BMTC bus stations in the city.
