Property recovered

The Bangalore Development Authority recovered encroached property worth Rs. 15 crore in HAL 2nd Stage on Saturday. In an early morning operation, unauthorised sheds and compound walls that had come up on survey no. 94 of Kodihalli were demolished and 1386 sq m of land was recovered and fenced. The demolition operation was carried out by the BDA Task Force, under the guidance of area Executive Engineer.

IGNOU convocation

The 18th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on Friday at the headquarters and regional centres through teleconvocation mode. Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan was the chief guest.

S. Sadagopan of IIIT was the guest of honour at the Bangalore Regional Centre. As many as 742 students were awarded degrees at the Bangalore centre.

Water adalat

BWSSB water adalat of West 2 and South East 3 sub-divisions to settle disputes connected to water billing, delay in giving water supply and sanitary connections, delay in conversion and other related disputes is being held on Monday at the office of the Assistant Executive Engineers of the respective divisions. Consumers are requested to submit written applications addressed to chairman, adalat committee, and submit it in the respective sub-division offices. For details, call 22945171, 22945176 (West2 sub-division), 22945196, 22945153 (South East 3 sub-division).

Posters removed

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists removed posters of a Tamil movie at Sampige theatre on Saturday.

Police said the activists shouted slogans against the theatre and against the Cauvery tribunal award and removed the posters of a soon-to-be released movie. The activists demanded that Tamil movies should not be screened. About 30 persons were arrested and later released.
