Seven U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD: Seven U.S. soldiers were killed and five others wounded in separate incidents in Iraq, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

Four U.S soldiers assigned to Multi-National Division - Baghdad were killed and one was injured in a roadside bomb attack while conducting a joint patrol with Iraqi security forces in western Baghdad on Saturday, the military said in a statement.

Following the attack, militants opened small arms fire, wounding another soldier, the statement added.

In a separate incident, a fifth soldier was killed and three others were wounded when their unit was conducting a joint dismounted patrol with Iraqi forces south of the capital, the military said in another statement.

In addition, another soldier was killed after being shot while conducting operations in Baquba. — Xinhua
