HighcourtRound-up SSLC Board told to consider their case

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has ordered issue of summons to the Taluk Magistrate, Bangalore North Taluk. A Division Bench comprising Justice S.R. Bannurnmath and Justice Subash B. Adi passed the order on a matter dealing with Wakf.

The Taluk Magistrate was ordered to be present in the court on March 30.

Directed

Justice Rammohan Reddy on Friday asked the SSLC Board to consider representations by two students, Raghu of Hubli and Sushant R of Belgaum, and permit them to appear for the SSLC examinations to be held from March 21.

The students said they were short of 75 per cent attendance as is specified under the SSLC rules for appearing for the examination. They both cited medical reasons for not having the requisite attendance. They said the headmaster of their school had sent back the hall ticket issued for the examination. Justice Rammohan Reddy observed that the students were good in studies and asked the SSLC board to consider their representation as per the law.

A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice, Cyriac Joseph, and Justice B.S. Patil on Friday directed the Union Health Secretary to appear in person before the court on the next date of hearing. The Bench passed the order after noting that counsel representing the secretary had not appeared for several hearings.

Delay condoned

Justice N. Kumar on Friday took exception to the conduct of some officials of the State Government in delaying an appeal filed in the High Court.

He condoned the delay of 900 days in preferring the appeal in the High Court and also asked the government to take action against those officials of the Law Department who had given an opinion that the lower court order must not be appealed against.

Justice Kumar was dealing with land grant near a tank in K.R. Puram, Bangalore, and he had called for records. He found that the column indicating the names of the persons to whom grant of land was to be made had been left blank.
