HYDERABAD: Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly K.R. Suresh Reddy on Sunday asked youth from over 20 nations to put their heads together and come up with solutions to make the world a happy and healthy place. He was speaking after lighting the lamp to mark the inauguration of a seven-day Asia Pacific Exchange Leadership Development Seminar (APXLDS) organised by a global youth network, AIESEC, at Taramati Baradari Cultural Complex here.
150 participants
Mr. Reddy told the over 150 participants to learn from the past and explore the future to face the challenges confronting the world today. He said HIV/ AIDS could spell doom and undo the progress achieved by every nation. "Happiness and prosperity apart, we need to make the world a healthy place too and you got to work for it," he said. Others present included AIESEC Asia Pacific Regional Director Ryan Shepherd, United Bank of Switzerland COO Mathew Fairless, Rishab Chopra and Sampreeth Reddy, AIESEC India's outgoing and incoming presidents, respectively. AIESEC, a youth organisation started in 1948, had a global network across 800 universities in 93 nations. A platform for young people to discover and develop one's potential for a positive impact on society, APXLDS network was one of five that AIESEC had globally. The inaugural day saw a `Global Village', where each one of the participating countries put up a stall showcasing their art, culture, tradition, music and food. The conference sessions would be held at Pragati Resorts until March 24.
