Gupta joins Home Ministry as OSD

NEW DELHI: Madhukar Gupta on Monday joined the Home Ministry as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the rank and pay of Secretary, official sources said here.

He will succeed V.K. Duggal as Home Secretary on March 31.

An IAS officer of the 1971 batch, Mr. Gupta belongs to the Uttarakhand cadre.

He was Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports earlier. He will have a tenure of two years.

More than a decade ago, Mr. Gupta served the Home Ministry as Joint Secretary (Kashmir).
