`Addicted to narcotics, he has been stealing vehicles to buy them'

HYDERABAD: A police constable, K.A. Parthasarathi Sharma, who was removed from service, and two of his associates were arrested while fleeing on a `stolen' motorcycle at Musheerabad on Sunday night.

Eight motorcycles were recovered from them, Musheerabad police station Inspector V. Syambabu told reporters here.

A constable of Central Police Lines of Amberpet, Sharma, was removed from service eight years ago. He was earlier arrested a couple of times on similar charges.

"The former policeman also got addicted to drugs and started stealing vehicles to buy drugs," the Inspector said.

Bikes recovered

He was spotted travelling on a numberless bike along with his accomplices Bhaskar, 25, and Syed Qalesha, 20, near Metro cafe in Musheerabad.

After a chase, the police caught them and recovered the stolen bikes based on their confession.
