Construction workers' rally on March 22

HYDERABAD:
Members of the Andhra Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers' Union will take out a `Chalo Assembly' rally on March 22 demanding legislation for protecting the interests of the unorganised sector.
The rally is being organised by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).
R. Kotamraju, president, said in a press release here on Monday that the rally was being conducted to focus attention on problems faced by the construction industry such as lack of employment to workers for the last six to seven months in view of rising prices of steel and cement. He criticised Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy for non-allocation of budgetary funds to meet the cost of providing health insurance to 40 lakh construction workers.
