BAnGALORE: Inmates of the Central Jail at Parappana Agrahara can now catch a bit of sports action. The prison authorities have decided to let them watch the ICC World Cup. The prison that houses over 4,000 inmates has 80 television sets. "The matches being in the Caribbean Islands of the West Indies, fans can watch them only from late evening. The prisoners will be allowed to stay up late and watch their favourite teams fight it out," B.S. Abbai, Deputy Inspector General (Prisons), said. "Whenever a good game is on, we allow the prisoners to watch it. This has been a common practice here. It was not introduced exclusively for the World Cup," he said. Women prisoners will be able to catch all the action in colour as their barracks have colour TV sets. Most of the men, however, will have to make do by watching the game on black and white sets. Of the eight colour TV sets, only four are in the blocks for men.
