IN ALL GRANDEUR: Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala was tastefully decorated on the occasion of `Ugadi' on Tuesday.
TIRUMALA: `Ugadi' was celebrated at the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala, amidst great pomp and gaiety on Tuesday. Deities of Lord Malayappa and his two divine consorts were taken around in a grand procession inside the `vimana prakaram' atop the golden `Sarvabhoopala vahanam'. The auspicious `Ugadi asthanam' was conducted at the `Bangaru vakili' inside the sanctum sanctorum. After carrying out the religious formalities, the chief priest of the temple rendered the `Panchanga sravanam'.In connection with the festival, the entire temple complex was exquisitely decorated with a variety of flowers. Tens of quintals of flowers specially commissioned for the purpose from the neighbouring states went into the decorating the temple complex. Despite the controversy regarding the date of observing Ugadi festival several thousands of devotees from different parts of the state queued up for the darshan of the Lord. To facilitate carrying out of special rituals in connection with the festival, the TTD management dispensed with some daytime rituals.
