Probe into suicide attempt

Coimbatore: The Race Course Police are investigating into a complaint regarding a suicide attempt by Lakshmi (35), wife of Harichandran of Tiruchengode, at a private hospital in Avarampalayam on Tuesday. According to the police, Lakshmi is said to have attempted to hang herself in a toilet at the hospital following the death of her daughter Ranjitha (15), suspected to be due to cancer.

Cases registered

The Alandurai police have registered cases against 11 students of a private engineering college in the area. Two cases have been registered on Tuesday against two groups of students following a clash between them in which two students sustained injuries on Monday.
