Special Correspondent
Puducherry : Volunteers of the Communist Party of India (CPI) here, headed by the party's national council member R Viswanathan, MLA, staged a demonstration at a fair price shop in Rainbow Nagar here on Tuesday to urge the administration to supply groceries and essential commodities as promised in the last budget session of the Assembly. Functionaries of the Rainbow Nagar unit of the party also formed part of the agitators.
Firm policies
They said that the Central and State Governments should come out with firm policies to control rise in prices of essential commodities. The prices had been skyrocketing affecting the poor. Mr. Viswanathan , who addressed the demonstrators, said that there should be no room for foreign direct investment in retail business. There should be no loss of time as people were bearing the brunt of inflation every day.
