AUSPICIOUS START: The fourth branch of Dena Bank in Orissa was inaugurated by L.K. Patnaik (right), principal, Khallikote Autonomous College, in Berhampur on Tuesday.
BERHAMPUR : Dena bank opened up its fourth branch in Orissa in Berhampur on Tuesday. Attending the inaugural function its eastern regional manager, G.P.Mohanty informed that it is the second branch of the bank in the country to be brought under core banking. Dena bank has started core banking facility on March 12 and its first branch to be under core banking is at Mahim, Mumbai. Out of more than 1,100 branches of the bank in the country 850 branches would be brought under core banking within next few months. Dena Bank already has branches in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Balasore. It would open up its next branch in Orissa at Sambalpur with core banking facility.
Expansion plans
Speaking on the future expansion plans of the bank in Orissa, Mr.Mohanty informed that they would have a second branch of the bank in Bhubaneswar next year and plans are on to have branches at Puri, Barbil, Paradeep and Jajpur Road.
Stress sector
Mr.Mohanty said like other places, the Berhampur branch would also put stress on the agricultural sector as Dena bank was the first public sector bank in the country to start the Kisan credit card concept. Apart from it, small and medium enterprises would be provided ample scope to grow with the help of the bank, he added. Principal of the Khallikote Autonomous College, L.K.Patnaik inaugurated the branch. The president of the Ganjam Chamber of Commerce, C.Ravindranath also attended the inaugural function.
