DHARWAD: The Dharwad Rural Police arrested 22 persons on charge of attempting to convert Hindu families in Bada village in Dharwad taluk on Tuesday. According to villagers, a group of people reached Bada village on Tuesday morning and then started visiting a few houses reportedly offering monetary benefits for converting into Christianity. When the news spread, there was tension in the village. The villagers stopped the vehicle and entered into an argument with the visitors. Pamphlets, books and other material found in the vehicle were taken out by the villagers and then torn to pieces. The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, based on the complaint filed by Irappa B. Jadaputti of Bada village, the police arrested Nallagokul Yohan and 21 others and produced them before the court.
