CPI (M) to contest 14 seats in U.P.

KANPUR: The CPI (M) will contest 14 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and lend support to any other party that can defeat the BJP at the hustings, a senior party leader said here on Tuesday.

"The CPI (M) would go it alone to contest 14 seats including in the districts of Firozabad, Tundla and Etah," senior party leader and former Member of Parliament Subhashni Ali told PTI.

``Apart from these seats, the party would support secular political parties who could defeat communal party like the BJP in the elections,'' she said.

She said senior leaders of the party including general secretary Prakash Karat would shortly launch the CPI (M) election campaign. - PTI.
