TIRUPATI: Ugadi celebration in Tirupati on Tuesday synchronised with the 504th Vardhanti (death anniversary) of saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya and witnessed devotional programmes, besides the regular music and dance concerts, at Indira Grounds here. Noted astrologer and scholar Tangirala Prabhakara Siddhanti rendered `Panchanga sravanam' and gave predictions for the `Sarvajit' year. TTD Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy, board member O.V. Ramana, Executive Officer A.P.V.N. Sarma, Annamacharya project director in-charge B.S. Reddy and SVIMS Director G. Subramanyam took part in the celebrations. For the first time, the TTD conducted an `Unjal seva' (swing festival) at the Indira grounds open air auditorium where the deities of Lord Venkateswara and His consorts were seated on a swing and rocked to and fro gently. Thousands of general public witnessed the grand event. "Ugadi pacchadi' and `panakam' were distributed to the participants. Later, Swati Somnath enthralled the audience with an impressive dance concert.
