NELLORE: In a bid to gear up students to meet future market needs in particular for the Special Economic Zones (SEZs), universities in the State will soon introduce new courses at graduate and post-graduate level. The universities have to gear up and evolve special courses that are sensitive to the social and technological needs of the developing State. Accordingly, those universities, which are near to the SEZs, will initially introduce specific courses with a view to enable local students to grab employment avenues. Given this backdrop, the State Government recently asked Vice-Chancellors in the State to design new courses in the wake of rapid industrialisation besides requesting entrepreneurs as well as SEZ promoters to spell out their requirements," Higher Education Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao said. With the number of industries coming forward to set up textile and apparel parks at Menakur of Naidupet mandal and Chintavaram of Chillakur mandal in Nellore district and with more than Rs. 2,000 crores, Sri Venkateswara University will have to devise new courses both at graduate and post graduate level to meet future requirements, the Minister, who has visited the district, said.
