TUMKUR: Seven men were killed in three road accidents in Tumkur district on Tuesday. The police said the lorry transporting cement fell upside down at Basavanahalli Gate in the district. The police said seven workers who were travelling in the same lorry were caught under the cement bags. Three of them died on the spot. Four injured persons were admitted to General Hospital here. Doctors at the hospital said: "They are out of danger. They would, however, be kept under watch for next 24 hours". The police gave the names of those killed in the accident as: Ramesh (22) and Dayanand (24), residents of Aladakatte; and Mohan (28) of Jogihalli in the district. In another accident, three youths of Madihalli were riding a motorcycle at Mydanahalli on Bangalore-Honnavar National Highway 206, when a scooter collided with it. The scooterist was on his way to Shimoga from Bangalore. The police identified the three killed in the accident as Shivanand (24), Madhu (23) and the scooterist Peter (28). In the third accident, a man was died when two autorikshaws collided at Tiptur on Tuesday. He was identified as Shafi (27) of Tiptur.
