Credit Suisse opens brokerage

MUMBAI: Credit Suisse, a leading Switzerland-based financial services company, on Tuesday announced that it had officially commenced its securities brokerage operation in India. Credit Suisse holds a broker dealer licence in the Bombay and National stock exchanges and will focus on equity sales and trading, and research in India.

Paul Calello, Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse in the Asia Pacific region, said, "the launch of our securities brokerage business will substantially strengthen our ability to service Indian and international clients in terms of research, market access, sales and execution.''

Mr. Calello was here to officiate the opening of Credit Suisse Securities (India) Private Limited's new office.

In November 2006, Credit Suisse signed an agreement to set up a Centre of Excellence in Pune. This facility became operational ealier this year.
