MYSORE: Three persons drowned in the Cauvery after they were swept away by strong currents at Triveni Sangama in T. Narsipura, near here, on Monday. The police said the three persons visited the Agastheshwara temple on the banks of the river on Ugadi day and went for a dip in the river. They were caught unawares and swept away by strong currents. Unable to swim to safety, they drowned in the river, the police said. The bodies were recovered in the afternoon and handed over to their families. The dead have been identified as S. Umesh, 34, a second division assistant at the court in Malavalli and a resident of Arakere in T. Narsipur; Nagaraju, 24, and Siddaraju, 20, both residents of Hunaganahalli in T. Narsipur taluk. The T. Narsipur police have registered a case.
