CPI reiterates demand for coordination panel

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The State unit of the Communist Party of India on Tuesday reiterated the need for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) having a coordination committee, for more effective functioning of the Government.

Although DMK president and Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, last week had turned down the suggestion, CPI State secretary D.Pandian said his party stood by it.

`Not pressuring DMK'

Replying to queries at a press conference here, Mr. Pandian made it clear that the CPI was not pressuring the DMK.
