U.P. wins on net run-rate

NEW DELHI: Rain spoilt Tamil Nadu's run-chase and the net run-rate (NRR) cleared Uttar Pradesh's passage to the semifinals of the Premier Cup.

Brief downpour halted play at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground here on Tuesday when Tamil Nadu was 63 for two after 18 overs in reply to Uttar Pradesh's 251 for seven, built mainly around Tanmay Srivastav's unbeaten 102. Once the cloudburst left the outfield unfit for the play to resume, even though the sun shone again, the umpires, Jasbir Singh and H. Sekhon, decided to call off play.
