KOCHI: Lajong Sports Club, Shillong defeated Jammu & Kashmir Bank 1-0 in an inconsequential match of the ONGC 2nd Division NFL at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Tuesday. In an insipid encounter, Lajong striker Kryshan Lynefshing scored the match-winner in the 85th minute. After receiving a through pass from the middle, Lynefshing dribbled past two defenders and his right footer from top of the box caught Vikramjeet Singh under the Jammu & Kashmir goal napping.
Better side
Lajong looked the better side and created more chances but the Jammu & Kashmir goal survived mainly due to the inability of the Lajong strikers to cash in on to the chances. Jammu & Kashmir Bank came last with one point. Salgaocar, Goa, Viva Kerala and Army XI, the three qualifiers from the Kochi leg, will join Vasco SC, ONGC and Chirag United for the final phase that begins at the Corporation Stadium, Kozhikode on March 25. The standings (read as played, won, draw, lost, goals for, goals against and points): Salgaocar, Goa 5-4-1-0-7-1-13; Viva Kerala 5-2-2-1-13-6-8; Army XI 5-2-2-1-6-6-8; Lajong SC 5-2-1-2-4-3-4; Indian Bank 5-1-1-3-3-10-4; Jammu & Kashmir Bank 5-0-1-4-0-8-1.
