Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy
HYDERABAD: Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy has asked the Legislature Secretariat to closely examine the petition submitted by Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao against the dissident MLAs of the party. In his petition submitted on Monday, the TRS president appealed to the Speaker to issue interim orders for keeping away the dissident party MLAs from election to the Council seats under MLA quota and also stop them from attending the Assembly proceedings forthwith. "We are examining the whole issue and I have asked the Assembly Secretariat to prepare a report on the petition," the Speaker said. Mr. Reddy's statement assumes significance, as election for the MLAs' quota seats is barely 48 hours away. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday morning, Mr. Suresh Reddy said he also wanted the officials concerned to get information about the instances cited by the TRS that supported disqualification of members who defied the party's whip and submit its report soon. "Once the report is submitted, I will go through the issue and initiate necessary action," he said.
