KARIMNAGAR. To earn additional revenue for development of Vemulawada temple shrine, Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy devasthanam authorities have decided to collect a nominal fee of Rs. 100 per head for VIP `darshan' of the presiding deity Lord Shiva, which was earlier free of cost. The authorities have also planned to construct a special VIP queue complex and name it as `Kailasagiri' queue complex. The VIP darshan with fee would be implemented after the construction of Kailasagiri queue complex. Besides, the temple authorities have also planned to increase the `kode kattata' (ox tying) offering fee from the existing Rs 40 to Rs 50. Vemulawada Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam chairman Adi Srinivas told The Hindu on Tuesday that they were expecting average revenue of Rs. one lakh per day with the VIP queue complex. He said that the VIP queue complex revenue would be double during the peak days of Mondays and Fridays and other auspicious days. He said that they were expecting revenue of about Rs. 18 crores during the year 2007-08 against Rs. 16 crores in the year 2006-07. He said that the temple had earned revenue of Rs. 50 lakhs during the three-day Mahashivaratri jatara. In order to attract more pilgrims, the temple authorities have planned to construct additional cottages to meet the growing demand at the Nandeshwara complex and Laxmi Ganapathi complex during this year at a cost of Rs. 5.6 crores.
Water project
He said that the ambitious drinking water project of lifting water from LMD reservoir to Vemulawada temple town would be launched this year at a cost of Rs. 9.34 crores. He said that gold plating of temple `gopurams' would be taken up by utilizing 24 kg gold under the supervision of TTD Devasthanams. He also said that they had planned to construct silver vehicles with 1,300 kg of silver available with the devasthanam for organising processions of presiding deities during `brahmotsavams'.
