5th Pillar gets going at inaugural function full of surprises
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
The inauguration of 5th Pillar's service centres, seeking to improve transparency in government departments, on Sunday had many elements of surprise.
One of them was the handing over of a staff to the president of 5th Pillar India.
Founder of 5th Pillar International M.B. Nirmal, while inducting president Vijay Anand said: "I don't know what for you will use this staff. Gandhiji used one such to walk ... but this could also be used as a tool to get things done."
While explaining what the four pillars of the legislature, the executive, the judiciary and the press stood for, its website www.5thpillar.org says the fifth pillar was taking shape.
The fifth pillar was meant to hold up the society, members of self-help groups and non-governmental organisations. The organisation is located at 1, Anna Road, Kodambakkam, Chennai. Call 65273056 or email ENDcorruption@5thpillar.org.
