Aravanis' plea to actor

A group of transgendered persons on Tuesday met actor Radhika Sarathkumar and appealed to her to portray them with sensitivity in television serials produced by her company, Radaan Television.

They were reportedly disturbed at the manner in which the transgendered were portrayed in a prime time serial, `Arasi', produced by the actor's company for Sun TV. The episode was aired on Monday night.

The group was in Chennai to attend a national conference. They met the actor and presented a memorandum to her, a copy of which was sent to media offices. A representative of the All-India Aravanigal Right and Rehabilitation Centre said Radhika assured them that the portrayal of the transgendered had been done sensitively and urged them to wait and watch the following episodes.
