For global peace

Anil Chakravarti is a traveller, but with a difference. He has spent 16 years cycling 2 lakh km across 12 countries — all for spreading the message of global peace.

The 52-year-old former employee of the State Bank of India in Ranchi, Jharkand, however, has no regrets about spending his youth travelling for the cause.

"I wanted to see the world," he said, during his visit to Chennai on Tuesday. "The SBI helped me travel to Malaysia by flight. From there, I cycled to other neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. I stayed in lodging sponsored by people in respective countries." He spent eight years in the U.S., acquired a health consultant degree and completed his Ph.D in naturopathy.
